Throughout his life, Akwasi has dedicated himself to service of the public good. He has volunteered for a range of organizations and given his time to causes he is passionate about. Today, his philanthropic efforts are devoted mainly to two organizations: Massey College at the University of Toronto, and the Campaign for Cannabis Amnesty.
Akwasi currently serves as the Chair of the Governing Board of Massey College, a residential college at the University of Toronto, established in 1963 to “nourish learning and serve the public good”. With his co-chair and fellow board members, Akwasi responsible for governance at Massey. He also contributes to life at the college through mentorship and other student-facing activities.
Akwasi is also a board member and director at Cannabis Amnesty, a not-for-profit organization working to promote social equity in the legal cannabis space. The organization formed in the lead up to cannabis legalization in Canada and has worked with government and industry to advance equality in the cannabis sector.
